The Daily Brief

NYC Tuba Christmas

Musicians from KU's Department of Music performed Sunday in New York City's Tuba Christmas on the ice rink at Rockefeller Center.  Hundreds of tuba players have gathered every year since 1974 to play holiday music and carols.

TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Turning partly sunny, very windy, and cooler than recent days but still above average temperature-wise. It will "feel" notably cooler, however, due to the stiff west winds which will be cranking at 10 to 20 mph with gusts near 25 mph. Highs right around 58.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

Dec. 15, 1942:  Nobel Peace Prize winner Sir Norman Angell cancels his appearance at Kutztown's Schaeffer Auditorium due to illness.  Angell is considered, at the time, the most distinguished visitor booked to visit campus.
