Sarah Tindall awarded Chambliss Faculty Research Award

Dr. Sarah Tindall has been awarded the Chambliss Faculty Research Award. The Chambliss Award, inaugurated in 2004 through a gift from Dr. Carlson R. Chambliss, professor emeriti, is meant to recognize the very highest achievement in research and scholarship and can be awarded only once in a person's career.  Tindall, a professor of geology at KU, has served on the university's Committee on Curriculum and Programs for the Department of Geology, has been a campus representative for the Geological Society of America, a reviewer for the Journal of Structural Geology, Journal of Geoscience Education, Nature Communications and other prominent geological journals, served as a mentor and has given geology-based presentations at Middlebury College, Pennsylvania State University and Rutgers University.  Tindall holds a bachelor's degree in geology from the College of William and Mary and a doctorate in structural geology and tectonics from The University of Arizona.

Low pressure will exit to our east taking the mix bag of precipitation with it. Scattered showers can be expected for the morning but should end around noon. Skies will begin to clear by afternoon and we should see some sun. High temperature in the mid 40s. Winds north at 6 mph. Rainfall total less than .1".

CONDOLENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
I am deeply saddened to share the news that a retired member of our Facilities family has passed away.  Linda Fink, a 26 year employee of Kutztown University, passed away on December 3.  She had retired in April.  Please keep Linda's family in your prayers.  A viewing will be held for Linda this Friday from 9 - 11 a.m. at Walbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood.  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.  Condolences can be sent to the Facilities office and will be forwarded to the family.

PHOTOS WITH SANTA!
Alpha Phi Omega invites all staff, faculty and students to have their picture taken with Santa!  Individual or group photos will be taken for a donation.  Come as a department or office to include everyone in the fun!  All proceeds go to support TOYS FOR TOTS.  Friday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union, table near the Bear's Den. FINALS WEEK HOURS
The Student Recreation Center and Keystone Hall Swimming Pool will be operating under the following schedule during finals week:
Mon., Dec. 12 - Wed., Dec. 14   Regular hours of operation
Thurs., Dec. 15                           6 a.m.-9 p.m. (Pool 8-9 a.m., noon-1 p.m., 5:30-7 p.m.)
Fri., Dec. 16                                6 a.m.-6 p.m. (Pool 8-9 a.m., noon-1 p.m.)
Sat., Dec. 17 - Sun., Dec. 18     CLOSED

Group exercise classes will end on Wednesday, Dec. 14.  Classes will resume next semester on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017.  Cheryl will not be conducting lunchtime workouts over winter break.


 
MITCH FREED'S RETIREMENT

The Academic Affairs Division would like to thank Mitch Freed for his 25 years of service to Kutztown University and wish him all the best in his retirement.  Please join us in honoring Mitch's retirement on Friday, Dec. 16, from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. in 317 Stratton Administration Building, to wish him well.
