CONFERENCE ON HUMAN DIVERSITY

The KU Commission on Human Diversity is pleased to announce its 11th annual Conference on Human Diversity that will be held virtually Friday, Feb. 26, 2021. Please save the date and consider offering a presentation, panel or workshop session. This year's theme, “Diversity in a Virtual World: Toward Equity and Inclusion,” encourages presentations related to diversity, equity and inclusion in a virtual world. COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS PUBLICATION
Dylan Gaspar ’16, M’18, mathematics and computer science, and Drs. Yun Lu, Myung Song and Fran Vasko, professor emeritus, Department of Mathematics, published “Simple population-based metaheuristics for the multiple demand multiple-choice multidimensional knapsack problem” in the International Journal of Metaheuristics. This article is the first literature presenting efficient and effective solutions for this problem. Statistical analyses were used to evaluate the methods.

10TH ANNUAL KU BUSINESS IDEA COMPETITION
On Nov. 5, six student business ideas were pitched to a panel of judges to win a cash prize. The winners were:
- First place: Yvonne Kanyi with Beauty Square, offers skin care and cosmetic services to serve the Kenya and East Africa markets.
- Second place: Aishwarya Singh with College Cram, an app that is designed to help college students succeed in their academics.
- Third place: Katelyn Wehr with Knees Up Events, provides a one-stop-shop for planning a wedding.
