Brandyn Hamilton, The Harrisburg Internship Semester
Brandyn Hamilton of Washington, N.J., is working for the state Legislative and Policy Research Office as part of a 15-week internship sponsored by Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education.  Hamilton is a senior public administration major at KU. He is one of 11 students participating in The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS) program, which provides students the opportunity to work in all areas of state government while earning a full semester's worth of credits.  THIS invites students from each of the 14 State System universities to participate.

Faculty and staff are invited to stop by with President Hawkinson during his free hour Monday, Feb. 6, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Free hours will occur on the first Monday of the month in 303 Stratton. Dr. Hawkinson welcomes your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions regarding Kutztown University.

Feb. 6, 11 a.m.
The Office of Social Equity will offer its first Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Sexual Harassment Training of the semester Monday, Feb. 6, 11 a.m., 312 McFarland Student Union. This session should last approximately 30-45 minutes. If you would like to attend, please register by e-mail at Please obtain approval from your supervisor if necessary.

Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Sexual Harassment Training is also available from the Office of Social Equity through Desire2Learn (D2L). 

As a reminder, all faculty and staff members should complete this training on a yearly basis.

"How Best to Interact With and Respond To Students When They Are Angry, Upset, Stressed or Distressed: A Program for Support Staff" by Dr. Bruce Sharkin, Counseling and Psychological Services. This program is designed to help support staff members in their handling of difficult or challenging situations involving students. Join us Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 2-3 p.m. in 280 OM. Please RSVP to by Monday, Feb. 6.

The College of Education Scholarship Brown Bag Series continues with Professors Angel Bestwick and Chris Weiler of the Department of Elementary Education speaking about "Preparing Them for the Profession: Use of Lesson Plan Study to Improve Pre-Service Teacher's Critical Thinking and Instructional Design."  Their presentation/discussion will take place on Thursday, February 9, 11-11:50 a.m., in BK 121.  KU faculty, staff and students, as well as community members, are invited.  Feel free to bring your lunch; light refreshments will be provided.
