CW5 Phillip Brashear - A Son Remembers A Father's Legacy
Celebrating Blacks in the Military, guest speaker Chief Warrant Officer 5 Phillip Brashear of the 80th Training Command, U.S. Army Reserve will pay tribute to his father's remarkable legacy and share his message of staying resilient during hard times and never giving up. CW5 Brashear is the third-born son of the late U.S. Navy Diver, Master Chief Petty Officer Carl Brashear, who is the subject of the well-renowned film "Men of Honor", and whose role is played by actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. CW5 Brashear has an extensive military career in the Naval Reserve, Virginia Army National Guard and the Army Reserve, culminating more than 38 years of honorable service. This event kicks off the MCC Ujima Conference and is open to the KU campus community and the public.

Women's Acrobatics & Tumbling Has Inaugural Match
For one night, the achievement was far more important than the final score. Nearly 16 months after introducing acrobatics & tumbling as its 22nd varsity sport, Kutztown University took to the mat competitively for the first time Friday night at Keystone Arena. Quinnipiac, the nation's fourth-ranked team, walked away with a 270.890-139.050 victory, but there was plenty of appreciation by the visiting Bobcats for the hard work and dedication of the Golden Bears' student-athletes and coaches in launching their program. "I'm so proud of my team," said head coach Karah Paull. "They went out there and did their absolute best, the energy was great the entire time and we continually supported one another."
