Women's Basketball Claims Second PSAC East Title in Three Seasons

Kutztown's smothering defense was on full display Wednesday night at Keystone Arena, where the Golden Bears held Bloomsburg to 13 first-half points and cruised to their second Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division title in the last three years, 64-43. The Golden Bears (24-5, 17-3 PSAC), second in the latest NCAA Atlantic Region rankings and 20th in the current D2SIDA Top 25, allowed just five Bloomsburg buckets over the opening 20 minutes in building a 31-13 halftime advantage. With the win, Kutztown is assured the East's No. 1 seed in the upcoming PSAC Championship tournament. The Golden Bears will receive a first round bye and face an opponent yet to be determined in a home quarterfinal game Wednesday, March 2, 5:30 p.m. Keystone Arena. A victory in the quarterfinals would put Kutztown in position to host the PSAC semifinals and championship, March 5-6, which they did back in 2019 the last time they were PSAC East champs.
