KU Becomes SPARK Lab Site

President Hawkinson signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Goethe-Institut and the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) making KU an official SPARK Lab site. Kutztown German joins a network of 25 high school and college labs in the Northeast and over 100 labs across the U.S. According to the SPARK for German website, “[c]olleges, universities, and high schools work with the AATG and the Goethe-Institut to provide training for German majors and future German teachers [who will then] teach German to young learners in after-school programs.” The German section of Kutztown’s Department of Modern Language Studies has established a partnership with the Kutztown Area School District to operate a pilot program beginning March 2022.
