Very strong low pressure moving eastward. As the low departs, breezy conditions can be expected due to a tight pressure gradient. Clear skies as high pressure begins to move in. High temperature in the low 30s. Winds west at 14-21 mph gusting to 30 mph.
 

 

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

 

In January 1934, the first edition of the Key, the Keystone State Normal School handbook is printed.  The 100-page book is the work of Miss Mary Rickenbach, KSNS dean of women.  It is the first handbook produced at the college.

PHONE BOOK ERROR
It has been brought to our attention that several 2016 Faculty and Staff phone books have missing pages due to printing errors.  The missing pages are usually between pages 17, 19, 22 and 37.  If you have a phone book with missing pages, please return it to Human Resources at the Kemp Building for a replacement.  Thank you.

UCC DEADLINE
The next University Curriculum Committee (UCC) meeting of the 2015-2016 academic year will be held on January 28. The deadline for submission of all proposals for this meeting is 12 p.m. (noon) on Thurs., Jan. 14. Please submit new proposals prior to this deadline to the UCC SharePoint Drop Off Library, at http://intranet/sites/committees/ucc/submissions. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. French at ext. 3-1312.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Margaret Reighn as the Special Events Coordinator in the Office of the President. Margaret comes to us with an extensive events background as she has spent several years as the Director of Catering. Her vibrant and enthusiastic personality will be an integral part of the Kutztown University community. PURCHASING AGENT
The Purchasing Department would like to announce that Mary Vink has accepted the position of Purchasing Agent 1 (Commodities and Catering) and will be joining the Procurement Services Office effective Monday, January 11, 2016.  The knowledge and skills she brings with her will definitely be an asset to our department.  Mary will be available at 610-683-4904 and her office is located in Stratton Admin. 1098T'S ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE NOW!
The 2015 1098T tax documents are available online NOW with GDIT/Vangent.  Students or parents can log in and retrieve the current or prior year tax document online and print it for immediate use.  New users would create an account to proceed.  Not all students are due a 1098T.  To understand this document, who and why a student would get one, please visit our website.  Sorry, we are unable to supply tax advice of any kind.

KUBoK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
The KUBoK neighborhood watch program and the Kutztown Community Partnership have moved! Our new location is at 306 West Main Street, just a few doors down from our old location, at the former Glow Tanning Studio. We are located in between Mamma's Delight Pizza and Salon Joey's. ENTERPRISE CAR RENTAL - INFORMATION SESSION
Business Services will be holding an information/training session Tuesday, February 9 at 2 p.m. for any faculty or staff member who would like to learn about the process for renting vehicles through Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The session will include information on: paperwork that needs to be completed before a vehicle is rented, how and when to order a rental vehicle through the KU website, how to order a 15-passenger van, and other general information relating to the vehicle rental process. The Kutztown University men's basketball team continued its home dominance on Saturday afternoon in its 99-76 win over Bloomsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle inside Keystone Arena.  KU (12-2, 9-2 PSAC East) won its 11th straight home game on Saturday and defeated the Huskies for the 13th consecutive time inside Keystone Arena. Junior Josh Johnson threw down a thunderous alley-oop dunk at the 10:44 mark in the first half to go over the 1,000-point mark in his KU career. He became the 24th member of the KU 1,000-point club.  Read the story here.
