THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

In January 1943, the Governor's Safety Office and Pa. Motor Police begin a two-week safe driving course for students of Kutztown State Teachers College.  KSTC is the sixth school in the state to host the course which is aimed at lowering the death toll from automobile accidents.  At the time more people were dying in car crashes than in the ongoing war.
