TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Some of the coldest air we've seen all season infiltrates the area. Could see a stray snow flurry but no accumulation. Mostly clear skies. High temperature in the upper 20s. Winds north at 9-16 mph.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

In January 1937 the Sharadin Studio opens in what was the college infirmary and is today the Multicultural Center.  The building underwent major renovations in order to make it safe for students.  Wooden partitions were removed and a steel skeleton added.  Steel windows and doors as well as fire-proof stairwells and exits were added.  The project cost about $40,000, more than $660,000 in today's dollars.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

UPDATE ON WINTER LONDON STUDY ABROAD GROUP
Twenty-two students from Kutztown University embarked to London for a two-week course. The courses available specialized in history and English, respectively. Upon arrival at the Heathrow Airport, the students and professors found their dorm at the London School of Economics. The night concluded with a trip to the London Eye and a welcome meal. The next day the group had an exclusive London graffiti tour around the Spitalfield area, followed by a tour of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The third day of their journey featured a trip to the London Museum, as well as a grand tour of St. Paul's Cathedral. The tour incorporated the crypts and a 365 feet hike to the top of the dome for an unprecedented view of the city.

Stay tuned for more updates on the students' trip
