TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Some much deserved return to some sunshine today with highs in the upper 40s. Light west winds. Don’t get used to it, though. The next week looks like more clouds than sun and more wet than dry. The good news? Mild temperatures … for now.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Nominations Deadline March 1
The College of Education announces a new initiative to recognize highly qualified COE graduates with our Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.  We seek to bestow this honor on 2-4 recipients each year.  The award recognizes a career of extraordinary accomplishment, based on significant contributions to a field related to our College, which should involve outstanding professional experience, scholarship and/or service to the community.  Award recipients are selected by a committee and will be honored during a late spring celebration.

Nominations should include:  (1) a detailed letter (2-3 pages) from a nominator that provides specific information about the person's "career of extraordinary accomplishment"; (2) one additional letter of reference; (3) if possible, the nominee's current resume; and (4) contact information for both the nominator and the nominee.  The information should be emailed to Cheryl Faust, administrative assistant to the COE dean, at cfaust@kutztown.edu, or mailed (or delivered) to Cheryl Faust, College of Education, 231 Beekey Education Center, Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA 19530.  For more information, contact Cheryl at 610-683-4253.  The submission deadline is March 1, 2017.

BEARS GIVE BACK FOOD DRIVE
The KU athletic department will be participating in a month-long food drive, called "Bears Give Back," throughout the month of January. All non-perishable food donations collected during that time will be given to the on-campus food pantry and Friends Inc.  Fans are encouraged to participate and donations will be accepted at basketball games on Jan. 25, as well as wrestling's Kutztown University Duals on Jan. 20-21.  Anyone who brings one non-perishable food donation to any of the basketball games will be given a ticket that can be redeemed for a free hotdog or bag of chips. Then at the game on Jan. 25, which is sponsored by the KU Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), a donation will gain entrance to a drawing for a Giant gift card.  In addition to accepting donations at athletic events, Kutztown will also have designated donation boxes set up in Keystone Hall throughout the month. The athletic department encourages all students, student-athletes, faculty, administration and fans alike to be a part of this initiative and help the "Bears Give Back."
