This year's AFSCME Women's Conference is March 10 - 12, at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, Pocono Manor, Pa.  Since we are not having a meeting this month, if you are interested in going to the conference, please submit your name to Tracy Reidenhour, by Friday, January 13.

Kutztown University will host the Berks County Science Olympiad on Thursday, Jan. 5.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the McFarland Student Union (MSU). A meeting, including all the participants, will be held in the MSU multipurpose room at 8:20 a.m., followed by the competition at 8:40 a.m. at various locations on campus. The competition will conclude with an awards ceremony at approximately 2 p.m. in the MSU.  In case of inclement weather the event will take place Friday, Jan. 6. The schools participating in the competition include:  Bayard Rustin (West Chester), Boyertown, Central York, Exeter, Fleetwood, Governor Mifflin, Hamburg, Henderson (West Chester), Reading, Schuylkill Valley, Sun Valley, Twin Valley, West Chester East, Wilson and Wyomissing area.  Thank you for welcoming these students to our campus. 




The KU athletic department will be participating in a month-long food drive, called "Bears Give Back," throughout the month of January. All non-perishable food donations collected during that time will be given to the on-campus food pantry and Friends Inc.  Fans are encouraged to participate and donations will be accepted at basketball games on Jan. 9, Jan. 12, Jan. 18, and Jan. 25, as well as at track and field's Golden Bear Invitational on Jan. 12-13, women's swimming's home meet against Lock Haven on Jan. 14 and wrestling's Kutztown University Duals on Jan. 20-21.  Anyone who brings one non-perishable food donation to any of the basketball games will be given a ticket that can be redeemed for a free hotdog or bag of chips. Then at the game on Jan. 25, which is sponsored by the KU Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), a donation will gain entrance to a drawing for a Giant gift card.  In addition to accepting donations at athletic events, Kutztown will also have designated donation boxes set up throughout Keystone Hall throughout the month. The athletic department encourages all students, student-athletes, faculty, administration and fans alike to be a part of this initiative and help the "Bears Give Back."
