TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Warm moist air will be transported into the region thanks to the high pressure sitting to our east. General atmospheric subsidence will allow for mostly sunny conditions. There will be buoyant surface air by the afternoon. The problem is there is atmospheric stability about 2 miles up in the atmosphere, which will limit warm air ascension. Thunderstorms are possible after 2 p.m. Some storms could contain heavy rain. High temperature in the low 90s. Southwest winds at 8-13 mph.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

July 22, 1937:  It is announced that Kutztown State Teachers College will receive more than $650,000 for construction projects on campus.  Included are the construction of Schaeffer Auditorium and a $50,000 renovation of Risley Hall, installing collapsible bleachers, a new floor, locker rooms and a new entrance.  Also included in the project is the transformation of the existing chapel to a dining hall, today known as the Georgian Room.  The existing chapel stage area is to be converted to a fireplace which still exists today.
