TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Partly Sunny skies continue for one more day before we perhaps get into a temporary cloudier stretch of a day or two as low pressure moves along a front to our south. For now, however, a fairly nice but hot day today, but a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs in the low 90s. Soft southwest breezes.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

July 26, 1906:  Thirteen year old J. Raymond Angstadt sneaks into the grandstand construction site at Keystone State Normal School.  While climbing on the unfinished bleachers he grabs the wires which provide light for KSNS as well as the Borough of Fleetwood.  Though he falls more than 20 feet and is severely burned, Angstadt is rushed home by KSNS staff where he makes a full recovery.  Fleetwood; however, is without electricity for days after the accident.
