TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Another warm, humid day in store as southerly flow continues. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible as a cold front approaches the region for Thursday. Uplift could be augmented by the energy associated with a storm system passing the Great Lakes. This is the same energy that produced tornadoes in the High Plains. High temperature in the upper-80s. Winds southwest at 5-11 mph. Rainfall less than .1" with higher amounts where storms occur

THE WEEK AHEAD

GENERATOR LOAD TESTING
Our annual generator load testing has been scheduled for the following buildings and dates. These test dates are subject to the weather. Should changes be necessary based on the weather we will make notice as soon as we know the reschedule date.

7/12       Schaffer
7/13       Boehm
7/14       Beck Hall
7/17       Sharadin Art
7/18       Academic Forum
****Stratton Administration is yet to be determined but will occur on a Saturday

This process will not interrupt the electrical service to the building. The only potential inconvenience may be the noise of the generator, primarily noticeable outside the building. In most interior building locations the noise is not audible or will be very faint. The test usually lasts between 2-4 hours, and the generators will start running about 9-10 a.m. on the designated day.
Will Meeker, director of Campus Services, Facilities

ANNUAL FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSPECTIONS
July 10 - 28
Annual fire sprinkler system inspections will occur Monday, July 10, through Friday, July 28.  Service technicians will be inspecting sprinkler system components such as sprinkler heads, piping, valves and fire pumps in our campus buildings equipped with sprinkler systems. For the most part, the inspection process will be transparent, except where system components may exist in common or other occupied spaces requiring the technician to access a valve or device. This work does not require sounding of alarms in the building, but may result in a discharge of water to the outside of the building through sprinkler drains. Thank you for your cooperation while this important inspection task is performed.
Jeffrey LaGamba, CET, assistant director, Environmental Health and Safety
