All Day CONNECTIONS New Student Orientation
9 a.m. State System of Higher Education Board of Governors Meeting,

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Thursday may turn out being the hottest day of this small stretch of oppressive weather. Highs should sneak well into the 90s, maybe to about 92 or 93. As was the past few days, a chance of a shower or a thunderstorm especially in the afternoon, but not looking to be a widespread outbreak, at least for today. Winds west-southwest 5 to 15 mph, with a few higher gusts pumping in some really oppressive-feeling stuff. Heat indexes will be in the upper 90s, so if you find yourself outside today, take it easy.

Complete information on the review of the State System of Higher Education, presented to the Board of Governors yesterday, can be found by clicking here.   The Board of Governors will meet again today at 9 a.m.  A webcast of the meeting can be viewed by clicking here

Our annual generator load testing has been scheduled for the following buildings and dates. These test dates are subject to the weather. Should changes be necessary based on the weather we will make notice as soon as we know the reschedule date.

7/13       Boehm
7/14       Beck Hall
7/17       Sharadin Art
7/18       Academic Forum
****Stratton Administration is yet to be determined but will occur on a Saturday

This process will not interrupt the electrical service to the building. The only potential inconvenience may be the noise of the generator, primarily noticeable outside the building. In most interior building locations the noise is not audible or will be very faint. The test usually lasts between 2-4 hours, and the generators will start running about 9-10 a.m. on the designated day.

July 10 - 28
Annual fire sprinkler system inspections will occur Monday, July 10, through Friday, July 28.  Service technicians will be inspecting sprinkler system components such as sprinkler heads, piping, valves and fire pumps in our campus buildings equipped with sprinkler systems. For the most part, the inspection process will be transparent, except where system components may exist in common or other occupied spaces requiring the technician to access a valve or device. This work does not require sounding of alarms in the building, but may result in a discharge of water to the outside of the building through sprinkler drains. Thank you for your cooperation while this important inspection task is performed.
