KU SBDC consultant, Martin Brill was recognized as SBA's Eastern Pa. Small Business Champion of the Year for Outstanding Contribution and Assistance to Small Business.  The award ceremony took place at the annual "SBA Day at the Ballpark" event on June 8, 2016.

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

June 1980, Kutztown State College moves to NCAA division II.  It had previously competed in division III.  Men can compete in football, basketball, cross country, swimming, soccer, golf, rifle, track, lacrosse, wrestling, baseball and tennis.  Women's athletics, which began playing on an intercollegiate level in 1969, had expanded rapidly to include basketball, field hockey, softball, volleyball, track, tennis and lacrosse.

KU Pitcher Matt Swarmer drafted by Chicago Cubs 


KU PITCHER MATT SWARMER DRAFTED BY CHICAGO CUBS
Kutztown University right-handed pitcher Matt Swarmer was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 19th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.  Swarmer was selected with the 584th pick on the third day of the draft. He is the 14th Golden Bear to be selected in the MLB first-year player draft since 1997. He is the first Golden Bear selected in the MLB Draft since Shayne Houck in 2012 (29th round, San Francisco) and the highest since Darin Gorski in 2009 (seventh round, New York Mets).
