11 a.m.                 Faculty and Staff Recognition, O'Pake Fieldhouse

TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

Warm front to pass through the region coming from the south. As is the case with warm fronts, the air will ascend slowly. Therefore, look for clouds to be increasing throughout the day as the warm front approaches. We should see a fair amount of sunshine. Models suggesting a possible late afternoon shower but that threat appears greatest toward the Pennsylvania and Maryland border. High temperature in the low 80s. Winds west at 5-9 mph.

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

In June 1983, KU's Michele Pingar became the first Golden Bear to be named an All American in the NCAA Division II.  Despite having little track and field experience in high school, Pingar was able to earn All American status her sophomore year when Kutztown State College was in the A.I.A.W. Division III.  After the move to Division II, Pingar set a school record of 36:07.6 in the 10,000 in nationals earning that coveted All American title.
