TODAY'S WEATHER

(Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger)

A winning Wednesday, for sure. High pressure re-establishes itself on the opposite side of yesterday's front. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity. How's sunshine and upper 70s sound? Can't beat that. Lunch outside anyone?

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone; Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle; and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

June 1950:  Three of America's leading folklorists present the first Kutztown Folk Festival using a unique hands-on approach that let "outsiders" experience firsthand what it means to be part of a Pennsylvania Dutch family. Key to the event's success was the ability of the festival's "founding fathers" to organize the area's local citizens and coordinate their participation in the festival. These were not actors, but actual Pennsylvania Dutch natives demonstrating their everyday way of life.  Today the festival draws more than 25,000 attendees.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

SUNSET SPECTACULAR IN KUTZTOWN PARK TONIGHT
The Summer Chamber Music Festival will present "Sunset Spectacular" tonight at 7 p.m. in the band shell in Kutztown Park.  The concert will feature a potpourri of classical and popular favorites performed by faculty and festival participants.  It is free and open to the public.

OLD MAIN ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN TOMORROW
There will be an electrical shutdown in Old Main on Thursday, June 30, from 5 - 8 a.m.  Areas of the building impacted by the shutdown include the Ground and 1st Floors of E-wing and F-wing.  The D/E wing elevator will not be operational during this time.  Please contact Carol Sztaba if you have any questions.  Thank you.

LOAD BANK TESTING JULY 5 & 6
We will be performing generator load bank testing on July 5 & 6, on the following buildings:

Academic Forum
Boehm
Sharadin

This process will not interrupt the electrical service to the building.  Noise from the generator running is the most common inconvenience.  This is most noticeable outside, but some occupants may hear a subdued noise if their space is near where the generator is located.    The test usually lasts about 2 hours.
