MEMBERS OF AFSCME LOCAL 2234 PARTICIPATE IN THE BIG CHEESE 5, SATURDAY, JUNE 15.
SPRING TWP., Pa. - Hundreds of volunteers gathered at Penn State Berks in Spring Township to pack meals for local families in need. The United Way of Berks County hosted "The Big Cheese 5." People worked together to package thousands of mac-and-cheese meals. They gathered again Saturday morning to put together meals containing beans and rice. Organizers said a total of 500,000 meals will be provided to families. The Helping Harvest food bank will distribute the meals to food pantries. The Reading School District will also receive meals to hand out to children during its summer lunch program.
