Daily Brief

June 24, 2019

KUDOS, Kutztown University’s Dedication to Outstanding Service, focuses on university administrative departments and the individuals within them, giving the campus community a better look inside many of the working areas on campus. This week, we sat down with the Office of Student Accounts to get an inside look at the dedicated individuals who undertake a plethora of responsibilities to ensure students understand their bills and where their money is going, including tuition assessment, invoicing of charges, accepting payments, disbursing aid released from Financial Aid, processing deferment requests received, collections management and more. Watch and Read.

Weather forecasts are provided by KU’s Dr. Michael Davis and “Monsoon Mike” Regensburger

Ridge moves through the region. Sunny skies should persist for most of the day. A weak disturbance tries to pass during the afternoon and may generate a shower or t-storm. Better chance of producing cloud cover ahead of the next system. High temperature in the mid-80s. Winds south at 5 mph.

We welcome incoming freshmen and their families all this week as we continue New Student Orientation on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wednesday we will host our next Transfer Student Orientation. As a reminder, the marketplace times for staff are as 8:15-9 a.m. for freshmen/parent and 9:15-10:30 a.m. for transfer. Your prompt arrival is appreciated.

KU familia, thank you to all who congratulated me on my retirement. As my journey here comes to an end, I reflect on my growth as a professional and an administrator. I was blessed to be mentored and taught by some of the finest most dedicated people I know. Thanks to the Office of the Dean of Students, my wonderful colleagues, Gina, Erica, Sue, Donavan and Mike Demetor, I will miss you all. God gave me the privilege to be a member of this awesome KU familia for nearly 15 years, and I count it as one of His most-richest blessings. You will always be in my heart and in my prayers. Hasta Luego, su servidora,.
Maggie Monet, Office of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs

I would like to thank everyone for all the fond wishes upon my retirement. Who could have expected 23 years ago when I started here as a temporary employee that I would someday be retiring from Kutztown University? I could not have asked for a better team of people to work and build memories with; I will miss you all.
     Jean Adam, Human Resources

Thank you, one and all who came to my retirement party to wish me well. I have enjoyed working at Kutztown University for more than 24 years, and am very grateful for all of the friends I have made and the support from staff and faculty. I appreciate all the cards, gifts and of course, hugs. I will miss you all.

For the past three years, the library has maintained subscriptions to the two most popular citation analysis services (Scopus and the Web of Science); however, due to cost constraints the library is no longer able to maintain both. After conducting a usage analysis, the library has decided to cancel Scopus. That subscription will end Sunday, June 30. Faculty will continue to have access to the Web of Science, which is the recognized leader in citation analysis services providing bibliometric data to over 33,000 journals. Please contact Bob Flatley (flatley@kutztown.edu) or your library liaison with questions.
