Saturday, June 19, the video piece, “Observer Participant I,” by Dale Parson of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, debuted in the juried Computer Vision Art Gallery of the International Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference, on-line for 2021. The piece explores the reflections and projections of an observer into the field of perception, participating in the construction of reality. The technical approach is inspired by the reflective infinity rooms of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

If you liked yesterday’s weather, you will like today. High pressure brings basically the same deal. Maybe a couple degrees warmer, but still rock bottom dewpoints. Highs around 79. Light southeast breezes.

The Department of Art congratulates Dorothy Siravo on her retirement at the end of June. Dorothy began her KU career in the Office of Academic Affairs in 2008 before becoming secretary for the Departments of Geography and Art. She has been a wonderful colleague and great advocate for the arts and geography, and she was awarded the CVPA Award for Staff Excellence this spring. Please stop by the Department of Art, 115 Sharadin Arts Building, 1-3 p.m., Monday, June 28, to congratulate Dorothy and enjoy some refreshments. Thank you, Dorothy, for everything.
