D-DAY OBSERVANCE
D-Day is Sunday, June 6. D-Day resulted in the Allied victory in Europe and the liberation of France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation to fight Nazi Soldiers on June 6, 1944. He started a campaign that “we will not accept anything except victory.” More than 11,000 aircraft and 5,000 ships held up for the D-Day invasion. Thousands of soldiers lost their lives and many of them hiked across Europe to end the war. This invasion was one of the biggest military attacks in history. Allied forces and American soldiers fought to end World War II and emerged as a brave and victorious force in the world. Learn more about D-Day and the brave men who gave all for our freedoms, men like PFC Eake DeMarco.
