Women’s Basketball Looking to Make History at the NCAA Tournament
For the first time since 1996, the KU women’s basketball team will step out onto the court in a NCAA tournament competition. KU takes on Charleston (W.Va.) noon, Friday, March 11, in a first round game at host Glenville State University’s Waco Center. The Golden Bears (26-5 overall) earned an at-large berth and the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic Region bracket thanks to a school-record 26 wins (26-6 overall record) and strong 24-3 in-region record. They are looking for the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament victory with the lone NCAA game, a 63-52 defeat to Pitt-Johnstown in the First Round almost 26 years ago to the day.
