The Daily Brief

Lancaster Chamber of Commerce 2016 Small Businessperson of the Year, Deborah Shutt Brandt

The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry named KU alumna Deborah Shutt Brandt '93, owner and creative director of the Lancaster-based brand design and marketing studio, Fig Industries, the 2016 Small Businessperson of the Year during its annual dinner. Deb established the studio (formerly Moxie House) in 2000, with a mantra of Design for Good. A few years later, her belief that exceptional design and creative communication can transform businesses and communities, led her to create Fig-a direct-mail guide to shopping, dining, arts, and events in small cities and great destinations, encouraging readers to shop local and support independent businesses.  Deb's vision for the business has grown over the past 15 years. Today, Fig Industries has a team of 18 creative professionals offering services across branding, packaging, marketing, photography, custom letterpress, and public relations. In addition, the Fig brand has grown from its flagship in Lancaster to four additional locations including, Bethlehem, Kennett Square, West Chester, and Columbia, S.C.
