OCTOBER 2017 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTHKU Employee of the Month October 2017

Congratulations to Barry Peterson, College of Visual and Performing Arts, on being named KU Employee of the Month for October 2017. Read Barry's nomination here.

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.

For more information on the award or to nominate someone, visit

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

High pressure builds to our south as a clipper system moves to our north. Plenty of sunshine and some high-level cirrus at times. The biggest issue will be the strong northwest winds. High temperature near 50. Winds northwest at 6-11 mph, gusting to 20 mph.

We are very sad to report that Dr. Richard W. Francis, professor emeritus, California State University, Fresno, Ca. and the adored father of Dr. Lorri Engstrom, Department of Sport Management and Leadership Studies, died Sunday, Nov. 19 in Frederick, Pa. The family is having a private memorial service.

Faculty and staff are welcome to give blood at the next Miller-Keystone Blood Drive Monday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in 218 MSU. Pre-register to keep your wait time to a minimum: Please share with your classes and student clubs as well. Blood levels are dangerously low and tend to get even lower as the need goes up with holiday traveling and potential accidents.
