PROFESSOR DESIANO’S ART FEATURED AT BROOKLYN WATERFRONT
KU professor of photography Rose DeSiano’s public art piece Absent Monuments was on display Sept. 11-22, in Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo, beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, New York. Operating both in sculpture and photography, the first set of this monument series started in Jamaica, Queens, where DeSiano won the Uniqlo 2018 Expression Grant for Public Art. 2019 PASSHE STEM STUDENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE
Oct. 11 - deadline
2019 PASSHE STEM Student Research Conference will be held at Kutztown University on Saturday, Nov. 2. We are calling for presentations (oral and poster) from all students (undergraduate and graduate) at PASSHE universities STEM-related disciplines. Submit abstracts/registration here by 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11. The conference will feature a keynote speaker, oral or poster presentations by undergraduate and graduate students, presentation awards and lunch with refreshments. More information is available on the conference website. Please encourage your students to present at the conference, and feel share this information with other PASSHE faculty and students.

VISITING ARTIST ROBERTO LUGO
Oct. 4
Visiting artist Roberto Lugo will work in the ceramics studio and present a lecture, Friday, Oct. 4. Lugo uses porcelain, illuminating its aristocratic surface with imagery of poverty, inequality and social and racial injustice. Lugo is the recipient of the 2019 Rome Prize and a 2016 United States Artist Fellow. This event is sponsored by Clay Club, the Department of Art, the KU Activities Board and the Multicultural Center. Demonstrations will be 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., in 108 Sharadin Art Building. Artist lecture will be 4 p.m., in 120 Sharadin Arts Building. For information, contact kuclayclub@gmail.com.

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCE

The KU Orchestra will perform 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Schaeffer Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Works include Griffes, Frazier and Constantinides. Alejandro Ortega, KU violinist, and Kim Webster, professor of applied oboe at KU, will also be featured.
