KU FACILITIES TESTING ROBOTIC LAWN MOWERS
KU facilities is frequently testing new technology and products aimed at making our operations more environmentally and financially sustainable. Currently, we are testing two types of robotic lawn mowers. One is located north of Risley and the other is located between the Academic Forum and Lytle. These mowers have a "radar type" technology and will change directions when it detects something immediately in front of them. They are powered by rechargeable batteries. During this test, the mowers are contained within sidewalks or roadways. Although they will come up to a sidewalk, they will not cross it. Feel free to stop and watch them, but as with any mower, please avoid getting too close so it can perform its job.
