Sport Management Program Awarded Reaccreditation

With joy, the Department of Sport Management announces its achievement of a seven-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). Accreditation by COSMA is a stellar achievement and a statement of the program’s continuing commitment to quality and excellence in sport management education based on agreed-upon accreditation standards. KU’s Sport Management program was the first in eastern Pennsylvania to be granted accreditation by COSMA in 2015. The Department of Sport Management would like to extend our appreciation to the students, alumni, administration and support staff for all the support provided to help lead the process to success.

Dine in the Dark

Students in the Program on Visual Impairments paired with the Berks County Vision Resource Center to host a "Dine in the Dark" at the Berkshire Country Club. More than 100 people attended and it was a great event to raise awareness of blindness.

Sherrod to Host Chambliss Faculty Lecture

Kutztown University’s Dr. Laura Sherrod, professor of physical sciences, will present her lecture entitled, “When Science and History Converge: The Search for a Lost Revolutionary War Mass Burial” during the university’s annual Chambliss Faculty Lecture 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 183 McFarland Student Union. The lecture will also be available on Zoom.

Lunch and Learn: Using Inclusive Language

The EMSA Professional Development Committee is proud to present the second workshop in our series, Lunch and Learn, open to all faculty and staff. Amanda Slichter, assistant director of Residence Life, will provide tips and suggestions for using inclusive language in the workplace and when interacting with students. Trunk or Treat

Kutztown University Athletics is sponsoring a community-wide trunk or treat 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the F6 lot (Andre Reed Stadium). Please park in the F1 lot (Stratton Building). The Women's Center, Social Workers and Advocates of Kutztown (SWAK) and the Community Outreach Center are taking donations of period products at our event 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 104 Unity Room, Multicultural Center. After this event, we will accept donations at the Boxwood House Women's Center until Nov. 9.

HARLOween Event

On behalf of our Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services, we would like to cordially invite you to our annual HARLOween which will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, on the DMZ at Kutztown University. Campus and community members are invited to bring their children to experience a day full of fun activities, inflatables and trick-or-treat opportunities. We'll have snacks and drinks available along with the opportunity for the children to win some prizes throughout the day. Adult supervision is required for all children under the age of 18. In case of rain, this free event will be moved to 218 McFarland Student Union.

The 11th Annual Conference on Social Work in the Global Environment

Thanksgiving Food Box Drive

The Kutztown University Community Outreach Center is once again hosting the Thanksgiving Food Box Drive. Collection has begun with a firm due date of 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. UNESCO World Philosophy Day Lecture

The Department of Philosophy and Government is pleased to announce that professor Randall L. Kennedy will deliver the 10th annual UNESCO World Philosophy Day Lecture, "Should I Love My Country? Patriotism and the African American.” The lecture will begin 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in Schaeffer Auditorium.
Professor Kennedy is the Michael R. Klein Professor at Harvard Law School and has served as a law clerk for Judge J. Skelly Wright of the United States Court of Appeals and for Justice Thurgood Marshall of the United States Supreme Court. He has published extensively on race, law, and equality, including "Race, Crime, and the Law", which won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award in 1998.

Starfish- New Resources for Faculty and Staff

Starfish D2L is now available. Modules for phase one include profile preferences, progress survey instructions, email templates and options for custom content. The Fall 2022 Midterm Progress Survey launches Oct. 25 and will remain open until Nov. 3. CET is hosting a Starfish training 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 via Zoom.
