The Daily Brief

Doctor of Social Work class Fall 2015

The new Doctor of Social Work held its first classes this past weekend. The Social Work Department wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the people across campus that helped bring this to fruition. The generous support of so many made this happen.  We can all be proud of KU as a doctoral-granting institution.  Photo is of the first cohort of 16 students

THE SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

THIS MONTH IN KU HISTORY

(Historical facts have been compiled from the KU Archives and Special Collections of the Rohrbach Library; the archives of the Keystone, Kutztown Patriot, Allentown Leader and Reading Eagle;  and Beacon on the Hill by Dr. Lee Graver.)

September 4, 1943:  Kutztown State Teachers College seniors are sent out to local school districts to serve as substitute teachers.  With many residents leaving to fight in the war, schools experience a huge shortage of qualified instructors.  Faculty also fills in for districts when possible.
