The Daily Brief

KU Mineralogy Class 2016

Dear Fellow Faculty Members,

Thank you for your understanding and efforts to accommodate the mineralogy students who missed your classes on September 1 and 2.  The field trip in which they participated was an excellent learning experience in which students grew both as scientists and as souls.  The explorations of the mineral springs, the garnet and wollastonite mines, the sand quarry, and the exceptional igneous/metamorphic outcrops gave students hands-on practice applying geochemical principles in water-rock and magmatic systems.  The hike to the peak of Giant Mountain was an exercise in mindfulness and gratitude, and built personal relationships between students who will now not have to suffer my course alone (and therefore be more likely to both learn and pass).

Thank you.

Kurt Friehauf, Ph.D., P.G. - Geology

SEE RARE FOOTAGE OF THE KUTZTOWN STATE COLLEGE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION IN 1966

While researching the history of KU for the Sesquicentennial Celebration last year, members of the University Relations staff were presented with a sealed film from the Rohrbach Library archives.  We had the film digitized and are presenting it for the first time to coincide with PSECU Founders' Week.  Keep in mind that this was filmed a half century ago.  While the quality is not great in spots, it is a great trip into our "unrivaled past."
