Jacob Christ and Joshua Garner "Physics on a Ring Lattice"

Left to Right:
Jacob Chris ('17), Joshua Garner ('16), Prof. Kunal Das, Andrew Pyle ('11) and Brian Kilpatrick ('14)

This summer, Kutztown University Physics majors Jacob Christ and Joshua Garner presented original research in a poster titled "Physics on a Ring Lattice" at the 47th Annual Meeting of the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (DAMOP) of the American Physical Society (APS) in Providence, RI.  This is the premier international conference on atomic and optical physics.  They did their work with Prof. Kunal K. Das as part of an ongoing research project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).  Also in attendance were Andrew J. Pyle ('11) and Brian Kilpatrick ('14), alumni of the KU physics program who earlier worked on similar NSF funded research with Prof. Das, and are currently working towards a Ph.D. in physics, Andrew Pyle at The College of William and Mary and Brian Kilpatrick at Brown University.  Continuing that tradition, Joshua Garner is starting his Ph.D. this fall at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Jacob Christ was awarded conference travel support from the KU Undergraduate Research Committee.
