Miles Decoster

MILES DECOSTER RETIRES FROM COMMUNICATION DESIGN
The Department of Communication Design announces the retirement of professor Miles DeCoster. He joined the faculty in 1993. During his tenure at Kutztown University, DeCoster taught a variety of courses but his focus was interactive and web design. Before the Department of Communication Design had a formal concentration in interactive design, DeCoster taught independent studies in emerging web technologies. In additional to web design, professor DeCoster is a painter, photographer, printmaker and book artist. He has a studio at GoggleWorks in Reading, where he actively creates work in a variety of mediums. DeCoster is a beloved member of the Department of Communication Design. We will miss his Hawaiian shirts, his level-headedness and his dry sense of humor.

Kevin McCloskey

KEVIN MCCLOSKEY RETIRES FROM COMMUNICATION DESIGN
Professor Kevin McCloskey has retired from the Department of Communication Design. McCloskey is known by all members of the Kutztown University community, thanks to his outgoing personality. He led study abroad courses in printmaking and sketch booking in Oaxaca, Mexico, as well as England and is the bestselling illustrator/author of a "Giggle and Learn" children’s book series. He received a citation from PA House of Representatives for his printmaking work and pioneered working with a local grant, entitled Gear Up, to encourage high school students from Allen High to prepare to plan to attend KU. His teaching transcended the classroom and continues with many of our KUCD alumni. McCloskey’s jocular wit will be missed by his colleagues and KU community. http://kucd.kutztown.edu

WEATHER

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

Cold front to pass during the day. Cloudy skies to start will give way to gradual clearing as high pressure moves in. Winds will be an issue tomorrow as we may see some periodic gusts. High temperature in the mid-70s. Winds north at 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.

Dr. Davis and Monsoon Mike recorded a podcast Friday discussing past, present and future weather along with the very active hurricane season, cleanup from Hurricane Laura, an historic temperature drop in Denver, and historic wildfires on the West Coast and how climate change plays in to some of these things. Click here to listen to the podcast: https://youtu.be/VvWrCLQqBmU To skip ahead past this past weekend’s weather since this was recorded Friday and that weather is already done and to get to the climate issues, scan to eight minutes.
