Getting Centered: Eight-Week Wheel Throwing Workshop with Victoria Baron

Everything tastes better using a mug or bowl you’ve made yourself. Join us as we explore the process of throwing clay on the wheel, while creating thoughtful and functional pottery. Together we will become more familiar with clay as a medium and hone our skills to create fun, functional work to enjoy with friends and family. Sketchbooks are encouraged, but not required and all skill levels are welcome. The cost of the class is $125 and will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 19 through Nov. 14 (Eight sessions, skipping Fall Break Oct. 10). For more information, contact kuclayclub@gmail.com.

Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger

Meandering low pressure, which brought several damp days, will exit today. However, we may need to wait a few hours to see appreciable sunshine. With some luck, we might see sun earlier. You can count on higher temperatures at about 78.

Miller Gallery Exhibition Opening Reception

Sharadin's Miller Gallery will be hosting the opening reception for the first exhibition of fall, "Spectrum Sinfonia - Prints & Paintings" by Dan Welden, 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept 9. New York based master printmaker Dan Welden will exhibit his paintings and prints made during 2020-21. Aside from his previous accomplishments as a printmaker, Welden’s new paintings display a knowledge of color and composition that challenges the best of his well-known contemporaries. A documentary about Welden will be running in the New Media Gallery.
A free public demo by Dan Welden will take place in the Printmaking Studio 1-3 p.m. Friday Sept 9.
