KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University successfully wrapped up Greek Week 2019, which took place from Monday, April 8, to Friday, April 12. More than $3,000 was raised for charities, including KU's Helping Paws Emergency Fund.

In addition to raising more than $3,000, three car-loads of supplies were donated to the Allentown Rescue Mission, two car-loads were donated to Friend Inc. and three truck-loads were donated to the KU student food pantry.

Hosted by KU's United Greek Council (UGC), the goal of Greek Week is for campus sororities and fraternities to compete in themed challenges and build unity amongst organizations.

Campus sororities that competed this year include Alpha Sigma Tau, Chi Upsilon Sigma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Zeta, Mu Sigma Upsilon, Phi Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha, Zeta Phi Beta and Zeta Tau Alpha. This year's fraternity competitors included Alpha Chi Rho, Kappa Alpha Psi, Kappa Delta Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Lambda Beta and Tau Delta Phi.

The theme of Greek Week 2019 was 90's Nickelodeon TV shows, with sororities, fraternities and even the UGC Executive Board representing shows such as Double Dare, Catdog, The Amanda Show, All That, Blue's Clues, The Wild Thornberries, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Little Bill, Rocket Power, Spongebob Squarepants and Kenan & Kel. Some of this year's challenges included the watermelon relay, tug-of-war, minute-to-win it, flag football, the build-a-raft relay and a toiletries collection competition, among various other games.

The Office of Student Involvement provides guidance and support to all nationally-affiliated fraternities and sororities at Kutztown University. UGC is the programming organization for all fraternities and sororities on campus. All fraternal organizations were founded on the principles of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship, and UGC exists to promote a collaborative pursuit of excellence among these four pillars. UGC is involved in planning and participating in various educational and social programs throughout the year, including Homecoming, the KU Welcome Back Bash and hazing prevention education.
