Kutztown University and Liquid Interactive Create New Scholarship, Externship

December 13, 2016

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University College of Business and Liquid Interactive have signed an agreement which will provide an annual scholarship for a KU student interested in digital marketing.  The intent for this award is to open students' eyes as to how many career opportunities in the digital marketing industry there are, as well as to how many of those career opportunities - and resources - there are in the Lehigh Valley.

The scholarship will reward students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in digital marketing. The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on their level of creativity as well as their eagerness to begin a career in this field as seen through their application. The award recipient will be given a one-time, $1,000, award to support the award recipient's education. The award recipient will also be invited to partake in a two-day, hands-on externship at Liquid Interactive. This opportunity involves shadowing members of Liquid's digital marketing department as well as active participation in meetings and brainstorms, among other activities.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students need to have been accepted to Kutztown University's Business Administration program and be in pursuit of a career in digital marketing. To apply, students must complete the following tasks:

1. Explain, in less than 250 words, what most excites them about a career in digital marketing.

2. Write a tweet (140 characters or less) stating why they should receive the scholarship.

Liquid will present one annual award of $1,000. Students must have completed 60 credits of coursework by the application's deadline to be eligible. Submissions will be accepted beginning in January and through March 10.  A recipient will be selected March 31 and announced at a ceremony in April.

"I firmly believe the College of Business is an important regional economic building block," said Jim Ludlow, president, Liquid Interactive.  "I am hopeful this program will encourage many regional businesses to be similarly innovative to proactively connect with the College of Business and help its students succeed."

"I want to thank Jim Ludlow and Liquid Interactive for their generosity and support of the Kutztown University College of Business," said Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson, president, Kutztown University.

"This is a great opportunity to connect KU students with industry experience in the professional world.  We are truly grateful for this partnership."  "Kutztown University's College of Business is pleased that our students who are interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing will be recognized in this way for their creativity and hard work," said Dr. Martha M. Geaney, dean, College of Business.  "This collaborative relationship with Liquid Interactive is a key step in achieving our vision to be the educational backbone of the business community in Southeastern Pennsylvania and beyond. We hope to encourage other companies in this region to collaborate with us in a similar manner so that we continue to build a pipeline of opportunities that are beneficial to our students and businesses.  Our business programs have earned AACSB accreditation which is known, worldwide, as the longest standing, most recognized form of specialized/professional accreditation an institution and its business program can earn. We are proud that our students and graduates are prepared to be business leaders."
