KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Faye Arndt of the custodial staff has been named the October 2019 Kutztown University Employee of the Month.   The award was presented earlier this month by Kutztown University President Kenneth S. Hawkinson after selection by the Human Resources Advisory Council.

Arndt, a custodial worker 2, has been with the university since Sept. 1999.  She received nominations from Donna Shade and Mary Dotterer, both members of the KU custodial staff.

Arndt’s nominators wrote: “Faye is a true leader.  She has served Kutztown University for 20 years, many of those years being in the dorms. She is always kind, courteous and helpful to staff, students and visitors to the campus. I know I speak for all of my co-workers when I say Faye is the glue that holds our shift of custodians together.

“At the present time, the custodial supervisor position is vacant. With that said, Faye has stepped it up, which is no surprise to any of us. She is a hard worker with a great work ethic. She is extremely knowledgeable and runs the shift swiftly and smoothly. I have learned so much from her. She goes the extra mile for us and helps us in any way she can. Faye puts her whole heart into everything she does. We are grateful to her. We are a small shift, but we are mighty with a great leader like Faye Arndt.

“Many things happen and need to happen during a shift: assignments have to be made if there is a co-worker out for the evening, special need calls that require immediate attention, picking up paperwork from co-workers for repairs in the buildings, work orders and order sheets for supplies. If someone needs a ride to another building or to be picked up to return to their own, Faye does all of this solely. Nothing is too much to ask of her.  She does it all without any hesitation and in a friendly manner.”

Nominations for KU Employee of the Month are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the award selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council.  A winner is selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winner, one will be selected as KU Employee of the Year. The KU Employee of the Month receives a plaque, reserved parking, and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
