Department of Music Faculty to Present Carnegie Hall Preview Concert

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Faculty members from the Kutztown University Department of Music will present a Carnegie Hall Preview Concert on Monday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main.  The concert is free and open to the public. 

The performance includes KU faculty members, pianist Maria Asteriadou and saxophonist Jeremy Justeson.  They will be joined by violinist Kurt Nikkanen and Greek saxophonist Athanasios Zervas to perform music by Greek composer Dinos Constantinides.  The preview concert will conclude with selections of compositions based on folk music from the Greek islands.

The four will present the same concert on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York. 

Constantinides is the recipient of many grants, commissions and awards. He has been honored with a Distinguished Teacher award by the White House commission on Presidential Scholars and is presently a Boyd Professor, the highest academic rank attainable, at Louisiana State University, head of the Composition Department and Music Director of the Louisiana Sinfonietta.
