Department of Music to Host Faculty Clarinet Recital

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University Department of Music will present a faculty clarinet recital on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Georgian Room of Old Main. Dr. Soo Goh, clarinet, will be joined by violinist Kurt Nikkanen and pianist Dr. Maria Asteriadou to perform works by Kovacs, Hurlstone, Smith, and Stravinsky.  The recital is free and open to the public.

Goh is an assistant professor of music at KU where he teaches clarinet.  In addition to a full and vibrant clarinet studio, he has taught Introduction to Music Literature, Aural Skills, Music Technology, and chamber music.

He holds a bachelor's degree in music and computer science from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, a master's degree from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Nikkanen is the concertmaster of the New York City Ballet Orchestra and maintains a private teaching studio in New York.  Asteriadou in an associate professor of music at KU where she teaches piano, serves as director of the Chamber Music Outreach Program and is the Artistic Director of the Kutztown University Summer Chamber Music Festival.
