Volkert Hired as Executive Director of Health and Wellness Services

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University is proud to welcome Amanda Volkert as its new executive director of Health and Wellness Services. Volkert, a registered nurse, brings more than 10 years of varying experience in behavioral and mental health, leadership, training, occupational health and case management. She comes to KU from Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) and begins her new appointment Monday, March 1.

"I am so excited to join the KU community," Volkert said. "Each individual has their own idea of what health means to them and my motto is to meet each person where they're comfortable and develop achievable goals. I'm looking forward to building relationships with the students and adding a layer to their education with regards to health and wellness unique to the individual student to help them be the healthiest they can be - physically, mentally and emotionally."

Volkert will be responsible for the health, wellness and safety of the university community. She will manage all components of the KU Health Center: clinical services, health administration services, health promotion services, AOD programs and counseling and psychological services. These services assist students to define and accomplish personal wellness goals and support the overall health of the campus community by integrating primary prevention, public health, clinical, teaching and training programs and research.

Volkert spent more than three years at Lehigh Valley Health Network, most recently as an RN disability case manager. She provided workers' compensation and personal illness case management for colleagues and implemented disability benefits programs.

Before LVHN, Volkert spent seven years with KidsPeace, where her roles included employee health nurse manager and nurse manager in the residential psychiatric treatment program for children and adolescents.

Volkert earned a Master of Science in forensic nursing from Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, Mass. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from DeSales University, Center Valley, Pa., and a Bachelor of Science in animal biotechnology from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, Pa.

Volkert resides in Macungie, Pa.
