Jared Green Named KU Employee of the Month for March 2019
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Congratulations to Jared Green, instructional technologist in the Office of Distance Education, on being named KU Employee of the Month for March 2019.
Green’s nomination from Dr. Robert “Moe” Folk, professor of English, reads:
"Jared helps a huge number of faculty with aspects of course development that in turn impacts a huge number of KU students. Whether he is assisting faculty with specific issues related to D2L or getting faculty to think more deeply about how/why they want to include a particular pedagogical technique in their course, he does it in a friendly and professional way that should be a benchmark for all KU employees.
D2L is integral to many face-to-face classes, not just online classes; I have seen him help a variety of faculty, who want to use D2L for vastly different pedagogical ends, achieve their goals. His focus on accessibility in course design ensures that we strive to meet the needs of diverse campus learners and he helps faculty promote academic excellence in their students. Jared is unfailingly patient and he helps both technophobes and technophiles with any issues they might be having in terms of integrating technology and D2L.”
A supplementary recommendation from Dr. John Ronan, professor of English, reads:
"Jared is one of the most brilliant people I have ever met. I come to him at least twice a month with D2L issues and he is always friendly, patient, insightful and quick-thinking - even at 8 a.m.
On D2L, he has helped me brainstorm and set up discussion board activities, blogs, wikis and grade books. Beyond D2L, he has given me excellent advice about website-building tools and Twitter projects. We are extremely fortunate to have such a kind, hardworking and gifted employee at KU."
Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
