Hawkinson presenting Ferris with award.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Christina Ferris, department secretary, Biological Sciences, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for October 2020.

Ferris' nomination from Christopher Sacchi, department chair, Biological Sciences, reads:

"Christina Ferris fulfills many roles in the biology department and does all of them with professionalism and a commitment to excellence. Chris provides vital assistance to the department chair, faculty and to students through her knowledge of university policies and procedures, her willingness to solve problems and finding solutions to the difficult-to-tackle problems.

Chris keeps the department running smoothly through tasks such as reminding faculty to get book orders in on time, enrolling students in classes and being a first point of contact by email or phone for parents and students who need help and assurance in learning about the biology department and university. Chris arrives to work early every day and has the office up and ready to run at the start of the business day. Chris' desire to serve beyond the department is evident through her work as an officer in the AFSCME union."

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
