Celebrate Marimba! Returns to KU

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Celebrate Marimba! returns to Kutztown University on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium. The event will feature discussions, lectures, and performances.

Marimba is a percussion instrument, where a set of wooden bars are struck with mallets to produce musical tones. The bars are arranged like the keys of a piano and the instrument is similar to that of a xylophone. Marimba was developed in Central America and is widely known throughout Central and Latin American countries.

The schedule of events is as follows:

9 a.m. - History & accomplishments of the Mallet Masters.

10:30 a.m. - Marimba Masters Jr., Greg Giannascoli, and a Julliard Pre-College program.

1:30 p.m. - Mallet Master Alumni panel discussion.

3 p.m. - University of Central Florida Percussion Ensemble, a lecture and a performance.

7:30 p.m. - The Eastman Percussion Ensemble - Michael Burritt.
