Kutztown University Department of Music Presents Fiesta! A Celebration of Spanish Sounds

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University Department of Music will be presenting "Fiesta! A Celebration of Spanish Sounds", on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium, hosted by the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Pieces will be performed by, the Bear Voices, the University Choir, and the Wind Ensemble.

The performance will consist of an array of pieces highlighting Spanish culture and sounds. The Wind Ensemble, directed by Professor Daniel Neuenschwander, will be playing pieces including "Mass from La Fiesta Mexicana", "Pas Redouble Double Quick Step", and "Sol Y Sombra".

Dr. Hank Alviani, director of the University Choir and the Bear Voices, will conduct the Bear Voices in three pieces: "Chili Con Carne", "Caramba", and "La Bamba". He will then direct the University Choir in conducting a multitude of songs such as, "Vendedores ambulantes Colombianos", "A la nanita nana", and "Son de la Loma".

In addition to Dr. Alviani and Professor Neuenschwander, three students, will be conducting pieces in the show. Marcus Feld will be conducting "Ya viene la vieja", a traditional Spanish carol. Elizabeth Weimar will conduct, "Vere languores", and Sara Urlich will conduct "Amor de mi Alma", a poem by Garcilosa de la Vega from the early 1500's.
