Big Band Bash Hits McFarland Student Union Oct. 21

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -The Kutztown University Department of Music Jazz Studies Program will its annual Big Band Bash on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the McFarland Student Union.  Tickets are available at the door for $5 for adults and free for students with ID.

The event features KU Jazz Ensembles I and II, conducted by director of Jazz Studies Dr. Kevin Kjos, with special guests Graham Breedlove, trumpet, and Victor Barranco, trombone, from the Washington, DC-based band, The Army Blues.

The ensembles will provide music from the World War II era in an old-fashioned ballroom setting.  Selections will include Glenn Miller's "In the Mood,"  "Manteca" by Dizzy Gillespie, "Sing Sing Sing" by Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington's "Don't Get Around" Much Anymore.

Proceeds from this popular concert are used for Jazz Studies scholarships, recordings and tours.
