September 23, 2015

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. Cheryl Hochberg, chair of the fine arts department at Kutztown University, will present the fall 2015 Chambliss Faculty Lecture at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in the Academic Forum room 201. This event is free and open to the public.

Hochberg's lecture entitled, "How Strange! Recent Creative Projects and Collaborative Endeavors." Working in both studio and travel settings, Hochberg uses animal subjects as a platform to explore the often unsettling and unknowable nature of the physical world. This lecture will address her recent projects, including her paintings, prints, constructions and collaborative endeavors. She will also situate this work within the larger context of her other academic and community-based creative activities.

In addition to teaching drawing and professional practice courses at KU, Hochberg also serves as advisor for Eckhaus, the student-run gallery on Main Street in Kutztown, and is on the board of Allentown FUSE. Her work has been exhibited at locations throughout the U.S., including the Allentown Art Museum, Montgomery College/Takoma Park, The Banana Factory in Bethlehem, Pa. and Sweetbriar College. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions, most recently at the Ice Box and the Gravers Lane Gallery in Philadelphia, the Womanmade Gallery in Chicago and the Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. Hochberg's work can also be seen in the collections of the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia, the Westinghouse Corporation and the Lehigh Valley Hospital.
