Stahler Presented Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching

September 14, 2015
KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Dr. Theresa Stahler, faculty chair, Secondary Education Department, has been awarded the Arthur and Isabel Wiesenberger Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award is presented annually to one faculty member who has served Kutztown University in a manner which sets him or her apart from faculty colleagues.

Stahler was nominated for this award by a member of the Kutztown University (KU) community, and she feels grateful that this environment has allowed her to thrive in her teaching. "The Kutztown community has encouraged and supported me, and that has enabled me to learn to teach well. The students that I teach are preparing to be teachers; they are engaged, interested and sincerely trying to learn to teach, so we have similar missions and work together," Stahler said.

In addition to teaching several courses in Kutztown University's secondary education department, Stahler is a member of several prominent associations, including the Association of Middle Level Education, the PA Association of Middle Level Education, the Pennsylvania Middle School Association, Phi Delta Kappa and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She was the recipient of the William Alexander Award in 2010, and published her article, "Ten Ways to Encourage Teaching Candidates to Teach at the Middle Level" in the Middle School Journal in 2002.
