Distance Ed For Students

Online Courses and Programs

Most online courses at KU use D2L, the university's learning management system. To access your online course, navigate to D2L and login using your full Kutztown University email address (@live.kutztown.edu) and password. If you don't know your password, contact the IT Help Center at 610-683-1511. If your course does not appear in D2L, please contact your instructor.

We encourage you to communicate directly with the director of the program or programs you are interested in for more information. Programs require formal admission and enrollment and all applicants must meet general admission criteria as well as program-specific requirements.

Online Accessibility

D2L is a Section 508 compliant learning management system. Learn More...

ReadSpeaker is a text-to-speech application that is integrated in every D2L course. The ReadSpeaker application makes content, including course pages and documents, accessible to all leaners in support of Section 508 compliance. For more information, check out the ReadSpeaker support article.

Contact the Disability Services Office if you require accommodations and services, including Accessible Classroom Materials.

Online Learning Tools
  • D2L

D2L is Kutztown University's learning management system that is used to deliver the university's online courses, as well as to support the face-to-face classes. D2L is very user friendly and can be used from any computer. D2L supports most modern web browsers, however the most recent versions of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome work best.

  • Remote Access Lab

Remote Access Lab allows students to access computers located in Kutztown University’s computer labs from their homes.  Students will have access to our general use computer as well as specialty and curriculum restricted computers (based on course enrollment).  Just login with your KU credentials and click “Connect” on the appropriate computer or lab.

    Remote Access Lab

  • Zoom

Zoom is KU’s online meeting platform that supplements D2L by allowing you to communicate with your instructor and peers virtually in real time via audio and video.

To use Zoom, you’ll need a microphone and speakers. Many computers have built-in microphones and speakers. For higher audio quality, or if your computer does not have a built-in microphone and speaker, you will want to obtain a USB headset. A webcam may also be used to share a live image of yourself, but is not required for communication with Zoom.

If your course will be using Zoom, your instructor will setup an online meeting area and provide you with a link to access the meeting.
