Tower

The Kutztown University "Tower" is published two times a year and mailed to alumni, parents, friends, donors, and campus personnel. It is produced by the University Relations Office in conjunction with Alumni Relations and the Division of Advancement.

Winter 2012 Tower – Criminal Justice at KU

                                 Open publication

In the winter 2012 issue of The Tower, we catch up with alumni who are using their Criminal Justice degrees to protect and serve. Read-up about FBI Special Agent Ray Carr ’79, Upper Darby Police Sergeant Amanda Pombo ’98, Dr. Arthur Garrison ’90, Adam Kisthardt ’88 and ’00 and Christine Reichardt ’96 and several others.   

The Tower also takes a look at photography through the eyes of Thomas Shillea ’69 who uses 100-year old equipment to photograph subjects from Coretta Scott King and Mario Andretti to Sissy Spacek, Malcolm Forbes and President Ronald Reagan.

We go back to class with KU psychology professor emerita, Dr. Connie Dent, credited with advancing the involvement of women on campus, founding the Women’s Center.  

Read about Dr. David Woodruff, an audiologist and humanitarian, providing solutions to hearing loss in Southeast Asia. And we take you out to the ball game with National League Major League Baseball All-Star from the San Francisco Giants, Ryan Vogelsong.

The Summer 2011 issue of the Tower magazine takes a unique look at what makes the campus special through a six-page photo feature of hidden treasures that is sure to take readers on a trip down memory lane. The Winter 2011 issue of the Tower magazine shines a light on the achievements of many interesting alumni, faculty and students beginning with our cover story on Todd DiCiurcio ’96. DiCiurcio is a rising star in the New York art scene specializing in drawing models, famous personalities and indie rock bands. Further in you will find that you may already own a piece of art by Don Everhart ’72, whose work graces the front and back of many U.S. coins in circulation.

Summer 2010 Tower – Fascinating Fiction: Victorian Specialists Follow the Rise of Gothic Literature

This issue of the Tower highlights a fascinating look at the scholarly activities of English professors Dr. Anne DeLong and Dr. Curtis Herr who edit the only academic journal dedicated to the study of Gothic literature focused on the vampire legend. The magazine also examines how educational technology has changed over the years and transformed the modern classroom.
