Ed Simpson Presents Research at Rodale Institute Field Day

Dr. Ed Simpson, professor, Physical Sciences, presented a summary of his collaborative research with Dr. Gladis Zinati of Rodale Institute at the Rodale Institute Field Day, Friday, July 21. The investigation is examining the degradation of chicken and duck eggs by soil microbes in soils from the Vegetable Systems Trial Rodale Institute and commercial soils in order to understand how multitaxon dinosaur egg shell deposits formed 100 million years ago. The first phase of the project will be presented in October at the Annual Society of Vertebrate Paleontologists Meeting by Dakota Pittinger, geology undergraduate major. The research is funded through a joint grant from KU and Rodale Institute.
